What is GYEON Q² Matte EVO? GYEON Q² Matte EVO is a professional SiO₂ ceramic sealant made specifically for matte paint and matte wraps – it protects the delicate matte surface for the long haul without touching the matte character, and keeps dirt, UV and water spots off.
Matte paint is fussier than clear coat – it doesn’t forgive the wrong care products and reacts badly to high-gloss sealants, which would kill that signature matte look on the spot. GYEON Q² Matte EVO is the answer: a ceramic sealant built specifically for matte paint and matte wraps. It protects long-term and reliably, without messing with the surface’s matte structure or adding any unwanted shine.
Detailing1’s tip from the shop: Never put regular high-gloss sealants or waxes on matte paint – they clog the paint’s light-absorbing micro-structure and leave gloss patches you can’t undo. Polishes are off-limits too, since they level the paint and grind the matte right off. Matte paint isn’t normal paint – it has a deliberately roughened micro-structure that scatters light in every direction instead of reflecting it cleanly. That structure is what gives you the signature matte look, and it’s also why it’s so much more sensitive: waxes, oils and high-gloss sealants fill that micro-structure and create local gloss spots that are next to impossible to reverse. Pressure from machine polishing grinds the structure flat and leaves the paint permanently semi-gloss. GYEON Q² Matte EVO is formulated so the protective layer doesn’t fill the micro-structure but sits over it as a shield – without changing the look.
Before you apply, the matte paint has to be cleaned thoroughly and gently – no aggressive cleaners, no clay, no abrasives. The ideal route: wash the car with a matte-safe, wax-free shampoo and rinse down with soft or softened water to dodge limescale spots. Then degrease the surface with a matte-compatible degreaser (e.g. diluted Q²M APC). Lay Q² Matte EVO down thin and even after that – with an applicator pad, not a machine. Once it’s flashed off, work it out evenly and with no pressure using a microfibre cloth. Full cure takes 12–24 hours.
GYEON Q² Matte EVO protects all smooth matte surfaces: factory matte paint (matte body panels from the line), matte wraps (matte PPF or matte paint protection film), matte wheel coatings and matte plastic add-ons (matte spoilers, side skirts). Not suited to heavily textured, semi-matte or satin-matte surfaces – there you want to match the product’s gloss level to the surface. Shops are full of matte sprays and matte care products that tackle the problem with mixed results. A lot of them are polymer sealants that protect for 4–8 weeks and need topping up regularly. GYEON Q² Matte EVO is a true SiO₂ sealant with longer durability – once it’s down, it protects far longer than simple polymer sprays. The gap really shows under frequent rain and UV load: cheap matte care fades fast, while Q² Matte EVO holds its hydrophobic effect over many months.
